A conjugation-based delivery vehicle with CRIPSR-Cas system targeting carbapenemase encoding genes
Résumé
The emergence of bacterial strains resistant to antibiotics is a major health threat. In view of that situation, and face to the lack of development of new antibiotics, various approaches have been proposed to reduce the emergence and spreading of antibiotic resistances. CRISPR-Cas system can be programmed to specifically target any DNA based on the information provided in the CRISPR array and can be exploited to target bacterial populations that carry antibiotic resistance genes. The aim of this project is to develop genome-editing approach that imposes pressure on carbapenemase-encoding genes to reduce their prevalence in complex bacterial communities by using the CRISPR-Cas system.
