Les médiations artistiques pour le développement des habiletés sociales dans le cadre du Trouble de la Personnalité Borderline : une revue de portée
Résumé
Context: Because of its specific characteristics, Borderline Personality Disorder requires multi-professional support aimed in particular at improving patients' social functioning. Among various therapies, artistic mediation can act on participants' social skills and interactions. The aim of this study is to review the current
literature to determine the impact of artistic mediation on the social skills and social functioning of patients with Borderline Personality Disorder.
Method: A search of various databases was used to select articles written in English and French on the use of art therapy with a population suffering from personality disorders including Borderline personality disorder, and to determine the social skills required by patients during an art therapy program.
Results: A total of eight articles were selected. They highlighted the different social skills called upon through artistic mediation workshops. Better self-understanding, self-expression and self-assertion, as well as consideration for the identity and interests of others, were observed, leading to an improvement in the social functioning of the participants.
Conclusion: According to the results of this study, an art therapy programme would enable participants to solicit and develop their social skills. Finally, an improvement in the participants' ability and interest in creating and maintaining social ties can be observed.
